What to Expect & How I Prioritize Safety, Comfort, and What Matters Most to You
One of my favorite recent sessions was with two sweet babies—brand new twins (boy and girl) whose parents wanted a mix of wrapped poses and natural, soft setups that showed off their bond. Photographing twins is always special, and this session was no exception.
When parents trust me with their newborns—especially two at once—I take that responsibility to heart. Whether you’re expecting twins or already adjusting to life with double the snuggles, I want to give you a peek into what it’s like to book a twin newborn session in my Midland, TX studio, what to expect, and how I make sure your babies (and you!) are in the best hands.
Safety Comes First—Always
As a mom and a photographer, I know how important it is that your babies are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I am a certified newborn photographer with newborn safety training through Kelly Brown, a globally respected leader in the field.
When photographing twins, safety is even more of a priority. I always work with a trained assistant or one of the parents to ensure that a set of eyes is always on your babies. Every pose, wrap, and setup is done with intention and care. Your little ones are never rushed or placed in uncomfortable positions. Their well-being guides every part of the process.
Your Vision Matters Most
Before every session, I send my clients a detailed questionnaire. This helps me learn what’s most important to you— color palette, pose ideas you’ve seen and loved, or heirlooms you'd like to incorporate.
In this recent twin session, the parents requested soft neutrals, blue for the boy and pink for the girl, with both babies snuggled together in simple wraps. That’s exactly where we started. I always begin with the setups that reflect your vision and add creative touches based on your preferences. My goal is for you to feel like the images you receive are your babies, your story, captured in a way that feels authentic and timeless.
What to Expect at a Twin Newborn Session
Newborn sessions typically last 2–3 hours, giving us time for feedings, soothing, and creating a variety of poses without rushing. This is still true for twin newborn sessions. We take baby-led breaks and move at your babies' pace to keep things calm and relaxed.
The studio in Midland, TX is designed for comfort and convenience. It’s warm, peaceful, and fully stocked with wraps, backdrops, headbands, bonnets, and props. I handle all the styling and setups based on your questionnaire, so you can sit back and relax while I work.
We started this recent session with both babies swaddled and tucked into a small bassinet wood prop for sibling images with big brother, and moved into individual portraits as the session progressed.
What’s Included in a Twin Newborn Session
I offer two session types:
- Full Newborn Session: Best for twins. This includes multiple setups, individual and together portraits, family and sibling photos, and a full gallery of high-resolution digital images with a print release.
- Tiny Treasure Mini Session: A shorter session for wrapped-only baby-only setups. This option is best for singletons or if you're looking for something minimal and fast.
After your session, you’ll receive a beautifully edited gallery. You can choose to download digital images, create custom wall art, or order a handcrafted heirloom album to remember these early days forever. Note: A $100 newborn session fee is added to my standard session packages to cover the time, preparation, and care involved with photographing newborns.
When to Book Your Twin Newborn Session
Twins often arrive early, so I recommend booking during your second trimester to guarantee a spot on my calendar. We’ll plan your session date for 7–14 days after birth, but I stay flexible in case your little ones need time in the NICU or come sooner than expected. Just keep me posted, and I’ll adjust the timeline accordingly.
Once booked, your invoice will reflect your chosen session type, along with the $100 newborn session fee. This ensures I’m fully prepared for a calm, safe, and memorable session for your babies. You will then receive your questionnaire and guide to help you prepare for your session.
What to Bring With You
When you come to the studio, bring anything you would need for your babies:
- Any special outfits or sentimental items you’d like to include
- A pacifier (even just for soothing between shots)
- Extra diapers, wipes, and a bottle if you're bottle-feeding
- Snacks and entertainment for other siblings if they are joining
I’ve got everything else covered—from wraps, bonnets, and buckets to backdrops, layers, and headbands in a wide range of colors and textures.
What to Do With Your Images
You’ll receive your fully edited digital gallery about 3–4 weeks after your session. From there, you’ll be able to order professional-quality prints directly from your gallery. Your images deserve more than a spot on your phone. They deserve to be showcased.
Some of my most popular print options include:
- Canvases
- Photo prints
- Acrylic blocks
- Heirloom albums
These products are carefully selected to ensure quality that stands the test of time.
